Did you know that the first settlers of Alexandria was Frank Spilman and his family? They came from King George County, Virginia and many are saying that they named the placed after Alexandria, Virginia. 

It’s also the home for the Campbell County Log Cabin Museum. It was privately built and owned as a non-profit museum. The whole mission of this museum when it was built was to remind and educate today’s generation about yesterday’s rural Campbell County from 1845 through about 1965.

The museum consists of two log cabins that were built before the civil war that’s been reconstruct from 1982 to 1996 to its former glory by the owner and some help of their friends and relatives so that visitors will appreciate the beauty of it. Beside this beautiful and historical cabins, it also contain extensive collection of antique farm equipment, steam engine, tools and household items that were used by the people a long time ago. There’s also maps, school books, a blacksmith shop, a broom makers shop, two windmills, a replica covered bridge, and three antique farm tractors are all part of the permanent collection as well.
